Fearless Women Day August 26th

On July 25th I attended a wonderful evening: Fearless Women featuring Michelle Peavy .  The event was introduced to me by a trusted friend Kari Dunlop, if Kari suggests something to me - I go, even though I didn’t know anything about this book, Fearless Women – the only thing I did know was remembering the angelic voice of Michelle at the end of The Business of Bliss last October.

Approx 80 women enjoyed a night of inspiration and connection, and me being me – bought 9 of the books which Michelle so kindly signed each one!  What I experienced on that night was incredible inspiration – with Michelle sharing her story & angelic voice, Kelly Falardeau a burn victim who has overcome so much to stand tall in her beauty, a lady by the name of Dianne who is blind and had us all in tears laughing.  The energy and connection was so beautiful, and extremely empowering.  At the end Michelle signed books and also promoted the Fearless Women Day Event in Toronto, which I was  seriously contemplating attending, especially after the evening I just experienced.

On Wednesday July 27th 2 days before I was leaving for Australia – I called up Kari…

“Kari, I was thinking – why can’t we have an event in Calgary?  We have tons of Fearless Women here in western Canada, just a thought!” I left the message.

On the way back from lunch, I made a spontaneous visit to Kari’s house, and Michelle was there!   I guess I wasn’t the only one thinking that we should have an event in Calgary.  So at 3pm on Wed July 27th it was decided “we’re going to do it” even though we had only 29 days to pull it together.  So with that, the Fearless Team was formed: Kari Dunlop of Glinda Girls, Heidi Drewett of Cormier Communications,  Donna McTaggart of Kaos Consulting & myself.  And what makes it all worth it, is together we are ALL raising funds for Brown Bagging It Calgary - feeding Calgary’s hungry kids & The National Council of Women of Canada.

On top of that we have the beautiful Cara Fullerton of Global TV emceeing and a fantastic line up of entertainment including Performances by Slam Poet and Spoken Word Artists: Sheri-D Wilson, Orunamamu-Morning and Jen Kunlire

What has transpired in a short amount of time is incredible, based on the determination of the team and AMAZING support from our network of Fearless Women…  I could go on forever with the list of great women who have been sharing, promoting, helping, donating, volunteering – however I wanted to personally give a shout out to two women in particular who have gone above & beyond: Lisa Ostrikoff of BizBOXTV, Jennifer Palmer-Cockton of IsAMom2ConnectU THANK YOU Angels!

So, with 11 days until the event we have almost everything covered (just looking for a riser/stage), NOW we just need to SELL OUT…
