Inspiring Children with Nature and Faery Magic

Every one deserves some inspiration with nature and a touch of magical faery dust. That is exactly what Susanne Alexander-Heaton does. Her book ABC Field Guide to Faeries, is a treasure trove of beautiful images and messages of empowerment, love and inspiration for children.  It is also for the inner child within for adults – I personally love her book and have read it myself on many occasions.

When I first met Susanne in 2010, it was magic from the first moment. I was speaking at the Women Embracing Brilliance event and she was deeply touched by my story and how the two female sparrows were the message for me to not take my life on October 31, 2004. She helped me embrace the message, and learn about the signs that nature brings us when we are open to receive them.

Susanne autographed a book each for my daughters.  This book is a treasured keepsake in our home, and also at our holiday spot in Windermere, where my daughters lovingly recreate their faery garden as soon as we arrive.  Whenever I see animals now, Susanne is the first person I ask and always there is a powerful message to learn and draw wisdom from.

Another gift Susanne gave me was when I asked her to come visit Sandra when she was in the hospice.  Susanne came dressed in her magical yellow faery costume and sprinkled faery dust all over Sandra and I.  At the time, I did not know that would be the last time I saw Sandra alive, she passed away peacefully in her sleep two days later.  The day Sandra passed away Susanne wrote a beautiful blog post “On Loss and Grieving Process” which helped me tremedously over the upcoming weeks.

In a day and age where kids are reading books like The Hunger Games – ABC Field Guide to Faeries is a refreshing and positive source of love and inspiration.  It’s a must add to your home library and in my opinion should be in every school across the world.

Thank you beautiful Lee Horbachewski for starting my morning off with a smile in my heart and on my face and tears of gratitude. You will never truly know how much your support means to me. Ironically, this morning while eating breakfast, I heard a beautiful song sparrow and was thinking of you and how we had first met, and how sparrows represent doing things in collaboration. The signs are always there for us if we are open to seeing or hearing them. Sending you plenty of faery magic and sunshine. You are the change you wish to see in the world. Shine on!;)xoxo
